But first: Whats the difference between dry and dehydrated?
Dry skin does not produce a sufficient amount of oil. This tends to be skin on the thinner side with small pores. Mature skin often falls into this category as oil production decreases with age. This skin requires richer creams and sometimes oils to help nourish, protect, and maintain the skins natural barrier function.
Favorite Solutions: Green Envee Nourish Moisturizer for dry skin and Skin Medcia TNS Treatment cream for very dry skin. Applied last over all serums but before SPF.
Dehydrated skin can be oily or dry but lacks healthy water levels in the skin.
This can be oily or dry skin but the telltale signs is a dullness, tightness, sometimes texture and creepiness at the surface. Dehydrated skin doesn't function as well as hydrated skin which can cause that dull, sluggish appearance.
Favorite Solution: Green Envee HA Collagen serum for oily skin or younger folks, Skin Medica HA5 Hydra Collagen (new version!) for mature or very dehydrated skin.
Booster tip! Spritz an essence or hydrating toner on skin before applying the hyaluronic acid serums to help grab and draw in that hydration! My Favorite is the Green Envee Brightening Mist
Dry and Dehydrated is when you fall into both categories and you feel dry all the time no matter what you do. This can be frustrating but fear not! I use this three step solution that can correct almost any level of dryness.
Favorite Solution: 1. Spritz with essence or hydrating toner, I love the Green Envee Brightening Mist.
2. Apply Skin Medcia HA5 Hydra Collagen onto damp skin. 3. Apply Green Envee Botanic Elixir oil to deeply nourish the outer layer of skin. 4. Apply TNS treatment cream or Green Envee Nourish Moisturizer to seal it all in and prevent water from evaporating out of your skin during the day or night.
And there you have it! A quick rundown of how I correct dryness and dehydration in my clients every day.
